This research presents a 30-foot-long narrative drawing that chronicles the historical evolution of Rwandan housing, emphasizing the dynamic interplay among architectural forms, cultural traditions, and ecological adaptations. The base scroll is layered with six mylar overlays, each highlighting significant housing typologies and corresponding ecological elements from distinct historical periods. The work reveals how Rwandan architectural and landscape traditions have been suppressed, revived, and transformed over time, offering a rich visual exploration of their enduring resilience and transformation.
